Sapience Therapeutics, Inc., is a privately held, clinical stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing peptide-based therapeutics for major unmet medical needs, particularly high mortality cancers. We are seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist to join our Discovery group to identify and develop first-in-class therapeutic peptides that target previously ‘undruggable’ oncology and immuno-oncology targets.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and execution of Sapience’s Peptide Antagonist Discovery System (PADS). She/he will be responsible for developing and optimizing innovative assays and leveraging their expertise in cell and molecular biology methods to discover and validate novel therapeutic candidates.
The candidate should be an accomplished scientist with a strong track record and hands-on expertise in hit identification and validation methodologies. She/he must be able to work independently in the design, execution, and interpretation of molecular and cellular assays.
The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing the Sapience Discovery platform. She/he will design, optimize, and execute molecular and cellular assays to enable cell-based screens aimed at identifying novel peptide candidates. The individual will engineer cell models for target validation and perform mechanism of action studies including analysis of gene expression and pathway activation/inhibition studies. The individual will collaborate closely with chemistry and translational pharmacology teams to plan experiments and manage timelines. She/he is expected to perform data analysis and provide regular reports.
A minimum of PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or a related discipline is required. She/he must have in-depth knowledge of and experience with modern molecular and cellular biology techniques. Experience with bacterial and mammalian expression systems, reporter constructs, expression readout and target engagement technologies, and genetic perturbation of cell lines is required. Prior experience in applying pooled and arrayed genomic screening tools and knowledge of laboratory automation is a significant plus. The candidate is expected to be an excellent communicator and thinker and be able to work independently to design and troubleshoot experiments. She/he must have strong interpersonal skills, motivated to find solutions to though challenges, and thrive in high functioning team and fast-paced environment.
Salary and Title: Commensurate with experience.
